clash 做名词和动词
常有四个意思:
第一：斗争、争吵，冲突
There have been a number of clashes between police in riot gear and demonstrators.
穿防暴服的警察和示威者之间发生过多次冲突。
If you clash with government, you will be get worse.
如果你跟政府发生冲突，你将变得更糟糕。
第二：因为观点或品质等产生的或产生了分歧，差异，冲突
These two surveys demonstrate the clash between ideas of
consumption and environmental protection.
这两项调查显示了消费和环保这两种理念之间的冲突。
His opinions clash against yours.
他的观点和你的相抵触。
第三：时间上相冲突，撞期
In the new time table, theres a clash between English and Chinese class.
新课表上，英语课和语文课时间有冲突。
I had to change our lunch date, because it clashed with my job
interview.
因为和工作面试相冲突，我只好把午餐聚会改期了。
第四：颜色或风格上不协调，不搭配，撞色
There was a clash of flavors in your dish. Chocolate and soy sauce?

The red door clashed with the soft, natural tones of the stone walls.
这红色的门与柔和自然色调的石墙不协调。
crash 做动词
它的意思包括"激烈地碰撞，坠毁，死机/不工作，崩溃"。
它还是"睡觉，住宿"的非正式用语。
Her car crashed into the rear of a van.
她的汽车撞毁了一辆面包车的尾部。
My words were lost as the walls above us crashed down, filling the cellar with brick dust.

crash 做名词

意思是"速成的，应急的"，形容需要在短期内花很多精力才能完成的事情。
They should take some crash courses to catch up with their classmates.

crush 做动词
它的意思包括"按压，挤压变形；把……挤入，将……塞进（狭小的空间内）；压碎，捣碎，碾成粉末；镇压，（用暴力）制伏"等等。
The car was completely crushed under the truck.
小轿车被卡车压得完全变形了。
Over twenty prisoners were crushed into a small dark cell.
二十多名囚犯被塞在一间黑暗狭小的牢房里。
Crush two cloves of garlic.
捣两瓣大蒜。
The revolution was crushed within days.

它的意思包括"拥挤的人群；迷恋；果汁饮料；粉碎；压榨；镇压；暗恋；猛兽隔离区"。
His thirteen-year-old son somehow got separated in the crush.
他13岁的儿子不知怎么在拥挤的人群里走散了。
She had a crush on you, you know.
你知道吧，她曾暗恋过你。
Who was your first celebrity crush?
谁是你们第一个迷恋的名人？
smash 做动词
它的意思包括"粉碎，打碎；使破产；溃裂；使猛撞；撞击；搞垮（政治集团或体制）"。
A crowd of youths started smashing windows.
一群年轻人开始打碎窗户。
The demonstrators used trucks to smash through embassy gates.
示威者们用卡车撞破大门闯进大使馆。
The bottle smashed against a wall.
那瓶子撞到了一面墙上。
Their attempts to clean up politics and smash the power of party machines failed.
他们整治政治和搞垮党派组织权力的企图失败了。
smash 做名词
它的意思包括"破碎；扣球；冲突；大败；十分走红的歌曲（或电影、戏剧）"
The book was a smash with critics in 1971, but the general readership took no notice.
1971年，这本书在评论界引起轰动，但广大读者却没有注意到。
Whatever the case, Brash will have to be a smash to offer handsome returns on such a huge investment.

smash做形容词
意思是"了不起的；非常轰动的；出色的"
To call Angry Birds a smash hit on mobile systems would be something of an understatement.

四者异同之处
clash 是强调"冲突"，不强调碰撞。主语多为抽象名词，即使是国家也是偏抽象性的名词。
crash 多用为"碰撞"之义，常见的如"撞车"与"坠机"。需要使用非常具体的主语。由"碰撞"之义可以延伸到碰撞所产生的高分贝噪音。常常属于意外情况。
crush 多用于"按压/挤压"之义，指在强压力下的挤压，按压。主语也比较具体，同 crash一样是稍偏破坏性的行为动词。
smash表示撞击，可及物也可不及物。
四个词都是描述了两者之间的一种相互关联的行为，而且都偏消极。
clash 及 crash 较为猛烈，smash的猛烈程度稍轻，而 crush 多偏于按压的力量上。
crush 的动词用法比其他三者灵活很多。
crash 强调撞击，碰撞的动作和猛烈，smash 强调撞击的结果。
